Plant Manager
This incumbent will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production scheduling, on-time delivery of goods, Inventory management, purchasing, maintenance, safety following company policies and procedures. They will develop processes that maximize stewardship, EH&S, quality and productivity of personnel and equipment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customersÂ’ expectations
- Prepare operating budget and monitor that the budget is met
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
- Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff (in conjunction with HR Department)
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Address employeesÂ’ issues or grievances
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
- Ensure all Health and Safety, and Environmental requirements are met
- Collaborate with Engineering, Sales and Marketing in developing new products that can be manufactured cost efficiently.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven minimum 10 years work experience as Plant Manager preferably in the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) Industry, with emphasis on metal and plastic enclosures, and electronic devices
- BS degree in Engineering, or Business Management or related field required
- Experience with NPI (New Product Introduction) and manufacturing complex electro-mechanical assemblies highly desired
- Practical knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources) with P&L accountability
- Familiarity with North American Market, International Markets and industry standards
- Solid modelling CAD, simulation tools or testing of systems
- Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Prior experience managing a R&D/Engineering staff
- Software Literacy: proficient with MS Office Suite, Projects, ERP Systems
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills, both for direct and indirect employees
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards for operating plants
- Able to lead root cause analysis investigations
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of local Labor Laws & Regulations would be an asset
- Lean/Six Sigma knowledge would be an asset
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein in support of the company
- International supply chain and management is a plus
- NetSuite experience is highly desired
