The Kitchen Supervisor assists in the management of the food service operations and the supervision of food service staff. Prepare and serve food to guests in our facilities.
Cooking:
- Prepares and serves appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality and quantity of food is prepared and served.
- Prepares facilities for the serving of food; assure that serving lines are properly stocked with adequate food, beverages, and supplies.
- Heats, portions, and serves food to clients according to established procedures.
- Maintains work areas and serving areas in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition; cleans counters and steam tables; washes and stores equipment, pots, pans, trays, and other food service items.
- Stores unused food and supplies to assure compliance with health and sanitation standards; disposes of unusable leftovers and trash.
- Operates a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as a slicer, grater, mixer, deep fryer, steamer, dishwasher, steam cart and ovens as required.
Kitchen Management:
- Assist in the training of new food service employees. Provides direction regarding operational and procedural issues.
- Provides secondary supervision of cooks. Manages shifts, which includes daily decision making and scheduling while complying with food safety standards, product quality and cleanliness.
- Coordinates the daily food production activities at all locations.
- Participates in menu preparation, ensuring menus are updated and recipes are revised as necessary.
- Handles difficult situations, disputes, and complaints regarding food quality and service with tact and diplomacy.
- Supervises volunteers assigned to Food Service operations.
Administrative:
- Maintains inventory and notifies supervisor of needed supplies to ensure stock levels and standards of quality are met.
- Prepares required reports and forms and submits as requested.
- Assists supervisor with preparing food requisitions; inspects food, supplies, and equipment
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 3 years of food service management experience.
Certifications:
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s Insurance.
- ServeSafe Certification - Manager - Must have or obtain within first 60 days.
