StrategenConsulting is seeking a Clean Energy Analyst. This position will primarily support various engagements with public and private sector clients for Strategen’s consulting team.  

 

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, collaboration, project management, and analysis skills and familiarity with key environmental, clean energy policy, and environmental justice groups. This individual must also have passion for efforts to decarbonize relevant energy, transportation, or industrial sectors, and an interest in emerging technologies, regulatory approaches and processes, etc, and a desire to engage and dialogue with many relevant parties on these matters.   

     

This is a full-time, remoteposition.Candidates must be US citizens located within theUnited Statesand able to work standard Pacific Time hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm.  To learn more about us, pleasevisitour websiteathttps://www.strategen.com    


Client Project Execution:

  • Assist Strategen’s consulting practice in executing client projects
  • Manage the execution of written and technical work within the context of overall client project goals
  • Review and interpret comments or testimony submitted in regulatory proceedings and develop arguments with evidence that can either support or rebut the issues. Draft memos, comments, and support the development of expert testimony or technical reports to support client needs. Develop insights into the economic, technical, and policy implications of various regulatory proposals
  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative market analysis to understand market trends and company-specific information related to the topic areas of retail rate design, wholesale markets, clean energy technologies, etc.
  • Conduct research on market structures, regulations, tariffs, competitors and competitive offerings, technology developments, applications and use cases; summarize research via memo or presentation and communicate research to internal and external audiences with varying levels of technical expertise; interpret such research to develop insights into the economic, technical, and policy implications for various technology participation
  • Conduct quantitative analysis to understand the economics of different strategies and business models, and the value proposition/economics of clean energy technologies in various retail and wholesale energy markets
  • Ensure timely delivery of project deliverables and communicate issues as they arise
  • Develop high-quality presentation, communication, and education material, including client presentations; white papers or reports; and discussion-facilitation material. Explain technical concepts associated with work to non-technical audiences. Present project findings to clients in both formal and informal settings
  • Execute efficiently and consistent with engagement budgets
  • Receive and respond to constructive feedback on client materials and project work with professionalism

 

Client Project Development:

  • Help prepare senior team members for client meetings and presentations
  • Diagnose problems that prospective clients may have and offer potential solutions
  • Build relationships with potential clients
  • Assist senior team members in scoping and providing clarity on client project requests, which may be ambiguous
  • Assist senior team members with writing proposals for clients and responding to client requests


Time Management: 

  • Self-manage time and workload and communicate regularly with your supervisor and other members of the team tomanage expectations about timing and quality of work. Ensure timely delivery of project deliverables and communicate issues as they arise
  • Prioritize between multiple competing internal and external demands to ensure successful delivery across a portfolio of projects

 

Professional Development: 

  • Work with manager to craft a professional development plan, independently explore creative solutions to problems related to energy transition, and proactively work to improve targeted skillsets and grow subject matter knowledge.

 

Experience, Skills and Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as energy, environmental studies, engineering, economics, finance, public policy, pre-law/rhetoric, mathematics, data science, geography or similar
  • 1-2 years of experience working in the power sector with experience on clean energy regulatory proceedings, grid planning, or business strategy
  • Deadline-oriented with record of quickly turning around high-quality projects of different sizes, remaining organized, and meeting deadlines 
  • Communicative and responsive – able to demonstrate team commitment and project progress in a remote working environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently when required.
  • Excellent organizational skills; detailed oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Able to manage and coordinate multiple tasks and projects accurately
  • Ability to quickly and appropriately prioritize conflicting demands
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate respect for and understanding of a variety of differing opinions
  • Superior command of business-level English, both written and verbal
  • Professional standards for discretion, confidentiality, and personal accountability
  • Emotionally mature, honest, and ethical, with an ability to communicate empathetically through issues with clients and team members
  • Knowledge of energy industry language and acronyms
  • Excellent command of business-level written and verbal English communication, specifically the ability to articulate technical topics to a public audience
  • Friendly demeanor with professional and polished customer service skills
  • Passionate about decarbonizing the energy sector and growing professionally in the clean energy sector
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative to help the team communicate policy topics and assist in developing innovative solutions to increase the impact of our work.
