JOB TITLE: Strategic Planning Analyst (Advanced)

FLSA STATUS: Regular Full-Time Exempt
SUMMARY: SABG is hiring a Strategic Planning Analyst (Advanced) to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville, AL. Advanced Analysts will support Agency Executives and Senior Leaders with day-to-day mission planning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • As the executive officer, serve as the MDA Future Technology (DV) Front office executive lead and advisor to the Program Executive (PE), and executive team members with the Deputy, Technology Director, and Science and Technology Director.
  • As executive officer, primary responsibility is to ensure DV Program Executive is prepared for internal and external meetings, managing the operational calendar, and ensure her priorities and execution agenda remain updated and on time.
  • Direct liaison with other program and executive offices to ensure professional and positive communications. This includes flexible operational planning for schedule and protocol. Working with the Technology Director and Deputy Program Executive, I have been a part of evaluating DV and designing improvement plans then execution, like the Program Executive Overview briefed weekly to DV staff.
  • Lead or assist in all DV hosted events such as community of interest, CTO roundup, Space Development Agency Director coordination meeting, etc. Manage hot action items, Task Management Tool (TMT) routing, voice and email communication on priority issues, etc.
  • Ensure Executive travel is booked, logistics met, to include travel prep, travel book, and communication plan.
  • Serve as Face of DV Front Office:
  • Professional relationships across MDA and DoD offices, to include communications, protocol, and flexibility.
  • Provides oversight for internal and external routing processes in order to meet deadlines and ensure quality of work.
  • Source of leadership and management among the Executive Assistants, War Room personnel, Human Resources, and Task Management Tool (TMT). Lead Advisor to the Program Executive:
  • Develop Daily Operational Binder to include read-ahead briefings, calendar, biographies, etc. based on the schedule.
  • Oversight on the daily schedule for Program executive and Deputy, Technology Director and Deputy S&T Director to ensure all vital meetings are covered, priorities are implemented, and protocol is followed.
  • Ensure PE is on track with hot taskers, congressional responses, personnel recognitions, and office calls.
  • Approve time and supervise four SABG staff in DV.
  • Track PE’s priorities and ensure scheduled meetings and time to meet her intent, and revisit agendas to ensure initiatives do not fall through the cracks. DV execution oversight:
  • Strategic oversight and review for quality assurance and follow through.
  • Develop briefing charts and requirements to assist in better communication up and down the senior staff.
  • Ensure personnel are recognized by drafting emails, retirement letters, sympathy letters, etc. for PE.

SUPERVISION: This position supervises three staff members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Has specialized relevant knowledge and works as a member of the team and assists with solving complex problems. Advanced level working knowledge, skills, and abilities using Microsoft Office. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and eighteen years’ relevant experience required. A Masters with fourteen years of relevant experience maybe substituted for the BA/BS.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Skills in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
  • Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to question activities and issues in all functional areas and make sound business decisions based on that data.
