Eagle View Behavioral Health is a psychiatric facility in Bettendorf, IA opening June 2020. 

POSITION SUMMARY

Codes and abstracts hospital medical records for maintenance of disease indices, compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory agencies, and reimbursement. Assesses patient information, assigning codes to that information and entering into system efficiently and accurately. Uses various coding manuals such as ICD, CM, CPT4, DSM and computer encoder. Confirms appropriate DRG assignments. Safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patient identifiable information in accordance with hospital and department policy. Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.

Education / Licensure:

Generally, the candidate will possess an associates degree in health information technology or related field. 2 plus years of progressive records management and coding experience may be substituted in place of the degree requirement. Preference is given to those with CCS, RHIT and RHIA certification.

Skills:

1) Excellent written and verbal communication skills ability to work with all levels of staff and management, 2) Computer proficiency, 3) Detail orientated, 4) Deadline-oriented.

Additional Requirements:

General knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act as well as laws pertaining to healthcare billing and reimbursement is helpful in some aspects of the position. Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards and State Licensure requirements.
