Position Summary

 

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5 . Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.

 

As Vice President, Government Relations, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s Legislative and Executive Branch strategy.  You are responsible for developing initiatives that support the company’s mission and working with the company’s partners to successfully enact these initiatives.  You are also responsible for analysis of the USG budget and using the analysis to help inform the compnay’s business strategy.  It is imperative to maintain regular communication with key customers and stakeholders in the Pentagon, on Capitol Hill and in the Executive Branch.  This position includes developing relationships with a broad range of US Government customers, to include Members of Congress and their staffs, staffs of congressional committees, principals in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, military services and agencies, and NASA.  You will contribute to the strategic development of Stratolaunch by responding to customer inquiries and identifying and pursuing business opportunities for Stratolaunch. Candidates must have strong ability to work on his or her own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within Stratolaunch business and government relations goals.  Relevant experience in government relations, strategic planning, business development, business capture, and national security programs is desired. 

 
Essential duties and responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead our Legislative and Executive Branch engagement strategy
    • Develop the strategy and enact our initiatives
    • Successfully enact our initiatives to support company goals
  • Lead analysis of the government budgets and use the results to inform company strategy
  • Identify and pursue US Government business opportunities for Stratolaunch, including early identification of potential applications of the Stratolaunch technology
  • Assist in identifying and selecting candidate markets and customers
  • Support VIP visits, tradeshows and conferences
  • Lead/support development of capture strategies for relevant US Government opportunities
  • Develop and maintain regular communication, including Stratolaunch capabilities briefings and regular updates, with key customers and stakeholders
  • Perform programmatic and budget research necessary to pursue current and future business for the company’s products 
  • Develop presentation materials for a wide range of government consumers
  • Regular and comprehensive communication with the Chief Revenue Officer and SVP, Sales to develop a strong partnership to capitalize on potential opportunities
  • Travel, as needed, to support the department’s objectives
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments

Required  

  • Demonstrated experience with successfully enacting legislative initiatives
  • National Security experience
  • Ability to identify government priorities/requirements and determine how the company’s programs/capabilities can meet those challenges
  • Facilitation skills and ability to communicate technical challenges and guidance to varied audiences to gain support or resolve concerns 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize tasking
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Citizenship/ability to hold a US security clearance

 

Preferred 

  • Experience with high technology programs such as hypersonics
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience working with technical teams, including working with sub-contractors
  • Experience with requirements development and capture support

 

Education/experience/certifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from accredited institution and 20 years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Special remarks regarding work environment 

  • Travel estimated to be approximately 25 %
  • Position is located in the greater DC area
