POSITION SUMMARY
The lift operator is responsible for orchestrating the safe, efficient and courteous loading and unloading of all guests while riding the ski lift. This involves engaging with and providing a first-class mountain adventure for each and every guest, communicating clearly and making split second decisions to ensure safe operation of the ski lift and ticket validation. This position pays $20.00/hour!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Greet and welcome each guest
- Provide directions and information regarding lift operations
- Respond to all guest inquiries and complaints in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Follow all lift opening and closing procedures
- Necessary ramp maintenance and preparation
- Insure all safety signs, mats, and safety cones are in place.
- Insure all seat pads are clear and safe
- Assist with the daily maze set up and break down
- Ensure all guests have the proper access products for each lift.
- Engage with guests when lift lines are particularly long.
- Have amenities readily available
- Keep lift shacks clean and neat, tools stored properly, trash emptied, and lift area well maintained
- Dry erase boards are up to date and clocks set properly
- Close and open maze lanes for effective maze operation, assist in maze orchestration
- Observe skiers, especially beginners and children. Give verbal and non-verbal commands as needed to help guide skiers
- Attend required team meetings
- Must be able to make split second decisions regarding stopping or slowing the lift to ensure guest safety
- Complete incident reports as needed
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIRMENTS
- At least 16 years of age
- Reliable transportation to/from work
- Able to work outside for long periods of time in inclement weather
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must complete Lift Ops training prior to working
- Ability to make eye contact, engage in conversation and smile
- Ability to independently solve problems and resolve customer complaints
- Conscientious and motivated to provide great customer service
- Team Player
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Mountain Environment:
- The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
- The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
- Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
- Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
