Position Summary:
This position oversees all of the purchasing activities for Straumann’s North American Hub. Specifically, this position is responsible for all aspects of services and related goods to support marketing, sales and education and any other activities (indirect spend). This requires expertise and close collaboration with all of the Hub’s departments in defining purchasing requirements and negotiating purchasing agreements.
This position will be strongly supported by all relevant corporate functions.
Major Responsibilities of the Position:
Collaborate with the NAM Hub lead team to establish and maintain adequate purchasing procedures to meet the business goals while respecting legal and regulatory requirements
Monitor and enforce compliance to internal local and global policies, procedures, targets, external laws and regulations
Ensure proper partnering between the Purchasing department and management to set budgets, targets or other financial goals and forecasts
Responsible for procurement (indirect spend)
Manages 3rd party carriers RFPs and contract negotiations, while ensuring defined service levels are met and pricing is in accordance with established agreements.
Implementation of best-practice-supplier- management based on corporate policies and procedures in order to meet the company’s expectations in terms of compliance
Other Duties:
Lead and/or coordinate indirect spend purchasing negotiations when warranted
Develop purchasing staff members
Ensure collaboration with other Straumann entities in regard to shared vendor relationships
Provide training on Purchasing procedures and work instruction to ensure adequate compliance
Minimum travel time is requested
KPI management (spend coverage, spend compliance, cost avoidance / implemented savings)

Minimum Qualifications:
College degree or equivalent preferred in Business Administration, Production, Industrial or Logistics Engineering, or strong Purchasing job experience
Demonstrated SAP or other ERP system implementation and/or usage experience
Medical device industry, or other highly regulated industry, experience
Minimum 7 years leadership experience in a Purchasing environment
Strong track record in project management, leadership, and execution.
