Role: Mainframe Capacity Planner Expert
Location :- Dallas, TX (Remote will be fine)

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:
Analysis of current environment challenges and recommending solutions that may include configuration or WLM changes.
Make performance tuning recommendations including memory and lpar weights.
May prepare and submit hardware plans.
Calculating expected utilization for new workloads.
Creation of required reporting including MLC/VUE/MSU forecasts with your analysis clearly communicated.
Advanced knowledge of IBM licensing models and costs
Provide sizing requests for incoming and outgoing workloads as it pertains to capacity needs
Collect and analyze capacity metrics and relate them to business metrics and performance measurements
Proactive engagement of SMEs in business and technical organization to develop personal network and understanding of business and workloads.
Participate in technical discussions with other technical SMEs (OS, CICS, DB2, Operations, Procurement, Software Asset Management).
Participate in the compilation and presentation of regular capacity reviews with the business.
Monitor current environment and recommend improvements to processes and configuration.
This is a small team so you will be needed to support lower-level tasks when requested. Oncall and US hours are a requirement.
What Candiadte background looks like:
8 years of experience in hardware configuration, OLTP, batch and database:
z/OS architecture and associated system software
z-Series hardware components and interfaces
Storage systems and I/O configurations
CICS/DB2/MQ/WAS configurations
MLC and VUE forecasting
Strong data modelling and forecasting.
Strong working knowledge and experience with the following tools:
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Word
Microsoft PowerPoint
SAS / WPS
MXG
JCL
Strong understanding of hardware configurations and technologies, as well as business driver impacts for capacity planning purposes.
Excellent communication skills are necessary to support requests at all levels of management.
Experience with z/OS Workload Manager and ancillary WLM functions (group defined capacity, soft-caps, WLM policy, service goals, resource groups, service classes).
Experience with content and interpretation of SCRT reports (IBM sub-capacity reporting tool)
Experience with mainframe system monitors (e.g., Mainview, CMF, EJES, or similar).
