What are the responsibilities and job description for the Indirect Loan Officer position at Streator Onized Credit Union?
Responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to Indirect personnel and assist existing member with consumer lending needs through outreach efforts. Assists with loan processing, servicing, and new accounts as assigned. Interviews and takes applications for loans. Prepares loan applications for credit approval and disburses approved loans. Professionally assists and serves members, dealers and business partners.
1. Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of Loan interviews and clerical support functions.
a. Interviews and assists members with applications for loans and Credit Union services.
b. Calculates terms, finance charges, insurance rates, etc. on loans for proper disclosure on dealer contracts.
c. Receives, reviews, and processes related paperwork and may refer all loan applications to Indirect personnel. Follows up on paperwork to ensure its completeness and accuracy. Follows up with vendors/dealerships as needed.
d. Disburses loans promptly and accurately.
e. Closes loan applications in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures.
f. Quotes payoff balances and provides credit ratings. Completes verification of deposits. Quotes NADA vehicle values.
g. Prepares miscellaneous documents and reports and maintains related records.
h. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant. Ensures that interviews and service requests are properly documented.
2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members and dealers.
a. Provide excellent service to members with timely follow up and information.
b. Desire to be helpful, positive, and act with integrity and confidentiality.
c. Attain sales goal monthly, quarterly, and annually.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with members, area personnel, and management.
a. Addresses members’ requests and questions promptly and courteously. Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls.
b. Informs members and dealerships of Credit Union policies and services. Provides routine information concerning loan applications, account balances, payroll deduction plans, etc.
c. Maintains the Credit Union’s quality and professional reputation.
d. Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters.
4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with vendors/dealerships regarding the Indirect and supporting product programs.
a. Assists and replaces area personnel as needed.
b. Attends and participates in meetings as required.
c. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
5. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members, vendors/dealerships regarding the Indirect and supporting product programs.
a. Addresses members and vendor questions promptly and courteously.
b. Assists completing periodic tracking, reporting, and required disbursements for department programs.
c. Maintains the Credit Union’s quality and professional reputation.
6. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
b. Performs related clerical and receptionist functions as required.
c. Keeps informed regarding policy and procedure changes.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: General knowledge of Credit Union indirect loan products and services. Understanding of loan interview procedures. Understanding of the Credit Union Indirect lending program and department.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Previous experience with a full-service financial institution, an Indirect lending department or consumer lending department is preferred. 1 years of professional sales experience in financial services, automotive dealership, account management or other similar experience with heightened sales experience.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Self-directed, goal driven. Strong verbal and written communication skills to educate, and cross sell with a needs-based approach. Good time management, follow up, organizational skills and attentive to detail. Able to operate related computer applications, and related business equipment including telephone, calculator, and adding machine. Cooperative, able to coordinate well with others.
