POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Middle School Principal

Reports to: Managing Director of Schools

Location: STRIVE Prep - Federal

Status: Full time, In-Person, Exempt Position

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Principal builds deep relationships with and leverage the strengths of students, families, staff, and community to co-create and implement: 1) A school climate that fosters safety and learning, respects and supports the cultural identity of students and families, and accelerates existing restorative practices school-wide for both student and adult culture; and 2.) An aligned academic plan that makes it possible to lead the school to a blue SPF rating, and enables the lifelong success of each of our students and team members who are committed to achievement, justice, and perseverance. The Principal manages the school leadership team that supports the campus staff. The Principal collaborates with the Managing Director of Schools to identify strategic priorities yearly.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

  • Lead an effective, student achievement-focused administrative team.
  • Implement a rigorous, comprehensive, standards-based curriculum, ensuring teachers have internalized and are prepared each day to deliver the curriculum in alignment with Common Core State Standards.
  • Lead and oversee a rigorous system for student assessment, data tracking, and appropriate student interventions.
  • Model and ensure high-quality observation/ feedback cycles, student work analysis protocols, and real-time coaching for all staff members.
  • Oversee all supporting logistics for the academic program, including staffing structure and schedule.
  • Support the Academic team to track and organize Capstone requirements for juniors and seniors. (High School Principals only)

STUDENT CULTURE

  • Set, model, maintain, and monitor a vision for strong student culture.
  • Build and sustain rituals, systems, and structures that prioritize and promote college access and preparation.
  • Implement network-wide systems to support student conduct and discipline.
  • Lead community gatherings that set the tone for the academic program.
  • Oversee extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, partnerships with outside providers, and other areas of interest.

STAFF CULTURE

  • Model and hold adults accountable for excellence.
  • Internalize and model STRIVE’s Core Beliefs in all staff interactions.
  • Model professionalism at all times and set staff expectations around professionalism..
  • Design and deliver comprehensive professional development throughout the school year and during summer training.

TALENT MANAGEMENT

  • Own and prioritize staff retention.
  • Oversee Pay For Performance and Core Belief Evaluations for all staff members.
  • Regularly collaborate with the Talent Team on hiring strategies and cultivation of quality candidates.
  • Prioritize recruitment within your school and leveraging the staff for referrals.
  • Internalize and execute STRIVE’s Talent Handbook for campus recruiting and employee retention.
  • Continually manage the performance of all campus staff to ensure excellent outcomes for our students.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships with campus assigned Director of Human Resources and Director of Talent Acquisition.

COMMUNITY

  • Build and foster meaningful relationships with families and students that ensure excellent family engagement and satisfaction that respects and values their social and cultural identities.
  • Ensure high levels of student attendance.
  • Engage external partners to add value to the students’ experience of the school, especially in the areas of extracurricular activities.
  • Actively partner with the network and participate in family recruitment to ensure student enrollment numbers are met for the campus and the network.

NETWORK LEADERSHIP

  • Regularly collaborate with other Principals and Central staff.
  • Educate staff and foster their understanding of network priorities as they relate to the campus and the role of the campus within the network.
  • Effectively and consistently implement network programming.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (OR PREFERENCES WHERE NOTED)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced degree (Strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience
  • Minimum of one year of instructional coaching
  • Experience working with an emphasis on data-driven instruction and demonstrable gains in student achievement
  • Speaks Spanish and has experience working with bilingual students (Strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated success working with students of color (Strongly preferred)
  • Experience in Title I schools (Strongly preferred)
  • Experience in a charter network (Strongly preferred)
  • Experience working in a school setting with students with varied disabilities (Strongly preferred)

  • 100% of employee-only monthly premium paid by STRIVE Prep.
  • All STRIVE Prep employees will receive an additional $3,000 in their base salary after the 3rd year, 5th year, and 7th year of service at STRIVE Prep.
  • We value our multilingual staff and the impact they have on our students and community. Therefore, staff that speak a language spoken by our families are eligible to receive an additional $2,000 to their base salary.
  • Industry high 6 weeks of annual vacation/PTO. Hard work is rewarded with ample time to refresh.
    • Based on hire date, employees are eligible for up to 8 days of PTO
    • All employees receive 2 floating religious holidays
    • All employees receive summer vacation based on work location and position
  • Participation in the Colorado PERA retirement program, including a PERA 401k option.
