Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Management, Supervision, and Professional Development

  • Oversee the mentoring and growth of assigned direct reports and other members of the curriculum team as needed.
  • Collaboratively plan professional development for the department.
  • Provide regular check-ins and performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Communicate regularly regarding project and department-wide information to the appropriate groups.
  • Work with departmental leadership to build a high-functioning team that is highly collaborative with cross-functional teams as well as external partners to ensure high- quality deliverables and products.
  • Contribute to department staff meetings and cross-functional meetings.
  • Use existing documentation and training resources to educate new employees in course development processes, as well as the use of internal production systems or other technologies.

Project and Quality Management

  • Monitor the quality of projects, emphasizing sound instructional practices and clarity, and providing tactful feedback and suggestions on ways to improve projects.
  • Draw on evidence-based educational theories and instructional design best practices to promote creative and effective uses of educational technology and instructional media.
  • Guide, train, and support product teams in selecting and using instructionally appropriate techniques, tools, and media to implement within StrongMind development.
  • Monitor and make recommendations for project and department-level capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan project development and resource allocation for assigned projects.
  • Monitor and manage risks to achieve goals and minimize negative impacts on project development.
  • Communicate with supervisor, project team, and other managers about the status of projects in progress.
  • Adjust priorities as directed or as needed to meet deadlines.

Leadership and Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with the other members of the leadership team to design and monitor development and production procedures to enable timely, efficient, consistent, and quality project completion.
  • Work with a project manager to track and manage project budget expenditures and stay within assigned parameters.
  • Develop plans for continuous quality improvement with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify methods for improving the effectiveness of StrongMind content based on user data.
  • Develop expertise in all aspects of StrongMind’s learning platforms, products, and related educational technology, including web tools and common office productivity software.
  • When appropriate, recommend adoption of new tools, practices, and policies.
  • Examine data analytically, showing excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills as it relates to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or Educational Technology
  • 5 years of experience in the education field with a solid understanding of best practices in instructional design, effective pedagogy, and standards alignment.
  • Elementary Education experience
  • 3 years of experience managing a team.
  • Experience in online curriculum development.
  • Experience managing projects.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills, including fluency in spoken and written English and ability to communicate diplomatically and persuasively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models and methodologies.
  • Excellent customer service skills with emphasis on patience, helpfulness, and tactfulness.
  • Project management and time management skills, and a results-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability to work productively and collegially in a team-oriented environment and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people from educationally and culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to train and develop team members on complex processes and skills, both hard and soft.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and applications with training and support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

StrongMind is seeking a dynamic individual to join our innovative team as a Curriculum Manager. As the Curriculum Manager, you will oversee a team of direct reports consisting of cross-functional team members from within the curriculum department. Oversee the goal-setting and professional growth of those on their team, as well as the content development and quality for various projects based on StrongMind’s yearly roadmap. You will be responsible for working with the project managers and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects with a high level of quality. You will support other department-wide functions such as road map planning, capacity planning, and professional development under the supervision of the Director, Learning Design & Development.
