The Chief Architect will report to the Senior Director of Cloud Solutions for Stryker’s Acute Care business unit and manage the Clinical Communications & Workflow software architecture team.
In this role, you will help our customers solve business challenges by rapidly releasing products/services to the market and building elastic, scalable, cost-optimized cloud applications. Cloud components include infrastructure for storage, messaging services, monitoring, security management, Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Web APIs, and “serverless” applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, DevOps, quality assurance, product management, and healthcare experts, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, world-class software solutions.
This role can be based in either San Diego, CA or San Jose, CA, and will require a hybrid work schedule.
What you will do:
The Chief Architect must follow cloud architecture best practices by considering performance, security, protection of private data, handling large data, future data load, and cost when designing any Cloud architecture. The Chief Architect should also provide guidance and promote best practices in software design. The Chief Architect must effectively communicate cloud architectures and concepts to software engineer teammates to implement.
The key responsibilities of the Chief Architect are:

- Maintain overall industry knowledge of the latest trends, technology, etc.
- Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public, and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.
- Demonstrate knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes.
- Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for cloud-based applications.
- Manage a team of senior principal architects across multiple software domains.
All cloud architecture must abide by medical standards as medical devices use our Cloud systems.
