POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be supervised by the Department of Student Services and will coordinate specific areas of the LCS Restore Program. Our Restorative Programs will include the Restorative Suspension Center, Restorative Academies, and other programs designed to provide students with the social and emotional tools to be successful along their educational journey. This position will assist the Director of Student Services in running the day-to-day operations of these programs and coordinate with principals throughout the division to transition students in and out of the programs. This position will also work with contracted professionals to provide character education specific to behaviors that are displayed by each individual student.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
  • Assist the Student Services Director and Supervisors in establishing a restorative alternative education program.
  • Exhibit strong relationship-building skills to promote student success and staff efficacy.
  • Assist in the hiring process and onboarding processes. 
  • Provides opportunities for success for all students.
  • Demonstrates willingness to work with teachers to provide students with meaningful educational opportunities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate instructional strategies for high school and middle school students.
  • Providing ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring to guide faculty and staff.
  • Supports evaluation and selection of materials and interventions.
  • Use data collected to strategically support the needs of teachers and students.
  • Monitors student progress and collects behavior data. 
  • Collaborates with base school administrators to monitor the progress of students.  
  • Helps determine and communicate specific student needs to teachers and contracted behavioral health professionals.
  • Works to achieve division/school/department objectives.
  • Communicates effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Communicates expectations clearly to students.
  • Effectively handles behavior incidents. 
  • Creates an effective organizational system to monitor student transitions. 
  • Utilizes various forms of technology to assist in the delivery of instruction.
  • Provides opportunities for students, families, the community, and other stakeholders to provide feedback regarding the programs.
  • Utilizes effective motivational strategies.
  • Assists teachers in pacing instruction to provide opportunities for student success.
  • Establishes, communicates, and maintains a high level of accountability for staff.
  • Plans for and makes effective use of time, materials, and resources.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 

Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in a secondary education field.

Administrative Licensure is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 Candidate must possess leadership and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, and staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Responsible for a team of personnel providing educational services to students in the Restorative Programs.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  •  Minimal travel within the school district may be required.
