What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Painter position at Study Hotels?
The Study at Johns Hopkins is currently seeking an organized and hospitable Painter. In this role, you are an integral part of the team in supporting the hotel operations and establishing clear communication lines to deliver on brand standards and ensure a comfortable and thoughtful guest experience.

Responsibilities
- The Painter performs high standard level of work in painting, finishing, and maintaining a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures; may direct the work of other classified staff in the area and perform related work as required
- The painter prepares surfaces for painting and finishing; applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials; mixes and matches paints and finishes
- Advises in selection and storage of painting materials
- Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches, caulks and paints (roller and brush finish) building surfaces and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials
- Tapes, flushes, repairs and applies texturing, and wallpaper
- Utilizes enhanced finishing skills when appropriate
- Performs minor carpentry, sheetrock and tile repairs
- Applies materials to, existing, and alterations (refurbishments)•Graffiti response and removal if needed
- Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers and pumps, etc
- Safely stores and labels all materials
- Checks work orders, managers’ report and resolves any issues reported
- Maintains appropriate services and repairs records
- Supports hotel engineering maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly, and monthly checklist
- Operates and uses required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
- Performs heavy physical labor
- Responsible for any hotel issued keys
- Responsible for minor maintenance repairs such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical and hardware issues
- Escort and monitor any outside vendors that work on the property in all phases of work
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to include: inventories, trash removal and clean up
- To carry out any other tasks required from time to time by management
- Comply with all company procedures as issued by management and/or as laid down in your terms & conditions of employment

Fundamentals
- Experience: Must have some experience at a comparable location. Prior hotel experience preferred.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Remains current on technology advances and safety protocols and makes recommendations on new practices to implement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of security and safety programs.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments, external vendors, and guests.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and be able to consistently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds.
