What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Controller position at SubCom?
Position Overview
The Project Controller will serve as the primary financial manager for large scale undersea telecommunication projects. He/she will work with a matrix-style project team comprised of representatives from across the organization, supporting all phases of the project (engineering, manufacturing, installation). The Project Controller will seek to maximize revenue, control costs, and identify risks and opportunities. He/she will ensure all team members are aware of financial objectives and report on performance, risks, and mitigations. Duties will include preparation of project budgets, variance analyses, project changes/contract variations; oversight of customer billing and collections; supporting book close, forecasting, annual budget preparation, and audits.
Responsibilities
- Support one or more projects, (simultaneously), from sales phase through completion.
- Construct initial project cost budget, in collaboration with Sales, PM, Manufacturing, Marine Operations.
- Work with PM and Operations to construct a monthly forecast of revenue, cost, billing/collections.
- Prepare and present reports on financial performance (project P&L, variance analysis, billing/collections, etc.)
- Provide financial support for proposed contract variations and project changes
- Support the Project Manager with project objectives by analyzing contract deliverables and collaborating with project team members.
- Attend customer meetings in person or virtually
- Coordinate customer billing with AR department; assist with collections, as needed
- Support financial audits of assigned project(s)
- Manage/assist on other financial-related aspects of the projects (insurance, tax, performance guarantees, etc.)
- Consistently ensures that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with SubCom policies, procedures, and core values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration or accounting/finance required
- 10 years project management/project accounting or related business experience
- Long Term Contract accounting experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Oracle ERP a plus
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in negotiations, strategy development/implementation, and risk management.
- Strong leadership qualities and the ability to complete assignments with little oversight
- Able to take ownership and responsibility, drive results, and effectively influence others
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Comfortable asking questions and challenging the status quo
- High standard of integrity and attention to details
- International and domestic travel to support projects and Functional Groups as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
