POSITION OVERVIEW Subject Matter is seeking an Executive Director of Strategic Growth and Marketing to join our leadership team. Due to our recent and projected growth, this will be a new position responsible for creating a growth and marketing strategy that propels the Subject Matter brand to a new and broader audience. Reporting to an experienced Chief Executive Officer, the ideal candidate will oversee the company's business development pipeline, streamline the client acquisition process, determine areas for organic growth of existing business, identify key growth sectors and develop strategic materials to help the leadership team convert new opportunities to engagements. Additionally, designing a thought leadership strategy for key areas of the firm’s expertise and elevating Subject Matter's brand in the marketplace will be an important component of this role. WHAT YOU WILL DO   Create firm-wide business development strategy ·       Conduct market analyses to determine growth industries and sectors ·       With input from department heads, take the lead role in conducting internal analyses to determine company strengths and areas for development in these growth areas ·       Determine financial commitment and timeframe for executing strategy ·       Drive accountability across senior leadership team, including defining and tracking success metrics   Promote the company’s brand and marketing its capabilities ·       Create a marketing plan that includes speaking engagements and thought leadership opportunities for the firm and its key team members ·       In coordination with department heads and other senior leaders, direct the creation of capabilities decks and promotion materials ·       Oversee industry awards applications ·       Use communications mediums, including social media and industry events, to promote the company’s services   Manage the new business process ·       Collaborate with leadership to identify and maintain the firm’s new business pipeline, including potential clients for both new and existing capabilities as well as organic growth of existing relationships ·       Develop and streamline an effective new business process, including RFP response materials and protocols ·       Track and assess pipeline activity to spot trends that drive strategy and opportunities for improvements   Create a collaborative environment ·       Create strong partnerships with department and capabilities leads across the agency ·       Manage a dedicated 2-4 person team in support of business development and marketing efforts  YOU HAVE ·       15 years’ experience in strategic growth, business development and/or marketing ·       Thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed, and dynamic environment where it is the norm to manage multiple projects and issue-areas simultaneously ·       Exceptional writing and presentation skills with an eye for detail and nuance ·       Strong knowledge of various communication platforms and demonstrated experience in advancing an organization’s thought leadership in conjunction with industry awards and other industry events ·       Ability to quickly develop trusting relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels ·       Understanding of the professional services landscape in D.C. and beyond Meet our CEO Subject Matter is an equal opportunity employer that encourages people of all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, abilities, and sexual orientations to apply.
