Business Manager/ Project Coordinator

Overview

The Data Strategy: Business Management & Project Associate will join the Data Program Management Office within the Chief Data Office (CDO - ICDAD), supporting the management of business to the CDO group rolling out the Data Strategy Roadmap for the Americas Division of SMBC.

In this role the Associate will be supporting management with day to day workplace productivity, employee engagement and communications strategy in data related business initiatives and corporate strategic transformation programs.

Additionally, the Associate will assist in the management of overall program, including capturing project milestones, prompt escalation of issues, forecasting of budgets and resourcing.  As required, the Associate will also work on ad-hoc projects and/or requirements, in partnership with the CDO team and other departments to execute the Data Strategy agenda.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, forecast & maintain area data and metrics reporting (budget, expense, headcount etc) within ICDAD, including coordinating requests for technology, consultants, and headcount requisitions and onboarding
• Assist the Data Program Management Office in the execution of the SMBC AD Data Target Operating Model, and ongoing reporting on progress to senior management and Head Office in Tokyo
• Supports the preparation of BAU and ad-hoc senior management decks and presentations, including materials for meeting with regulators
• Support in the maintenance of dashboards and/or scorecards to monitor the ICDAD team and Data Strategy program KPIs
• Coordinate agenda of several Data Governance forums, All Hands calls, and other ad-hoc team meetings, including preparation of materials and meeting minutes and follow ups on agreed next steps and deliverables. Responsible for the regular content update of the CDAD page in the internal SMBC website
• Coordinates the process to set up ICDAD critical business goals and objectives, and assist the team in building comprehensive, strategic, and cross- functional plans to achieve them.
• Collaborate with the Data Domain, Data Operations and Data Architecture teams to provide additional project management support based on specific requirements

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience working in either a Financial Services institution or consultant firm; business management experience preferred.
• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel required, with knowledge of Tableau, PowerBI  and Visio preferable.
• Strong knowledge of data and the use of data in business processes; prior experience in Data Governance and /or remediation efforts preferred.
• Strong project management abilities including multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented and dynamic environment.
• Skilled in conceptualizing, documenting and presenting creative solutions.
• Ability to conduct analysis as part of a project related work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate concepts and ideas to diverse audiences.
• Able to work autonomously and be a complete self-starter.
• Must have strong work ethics and attention to details.
