FULL TIME - 40 HOURS/WEEK -
9AM - 7PM

Summary:
Performs and coordinates a variety of clerical duties, particularly in connection with preparing, compiling and maintaining of patient records; functions as a receptionist and communication link within a patient-care area. Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities under the direction of Registered Nurse, and patient care support duties related to environmental, dietary, transportation, supplies, and light maintenance activities.
Minimum Education:
a. High school level coursework in English grammar, composition, and basic mathematics.
Minimum Work Experience:
a. Six (6) months of either direct patient care experience or clerical office experience which has provided knowledge of utilizing a computer to access information.
b. Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course or equivalent and a score of 70% or greater on a screening medical terminology test .
c. Attain American Heart Association basic life support certification during initial training period and maintain certification thereafter.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
a. Population-Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
b. Knowledge of computer keyboard and comfort using windows based software systems.
c. Ability to work well within a team environment by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating with patient care team members to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods, and/or reduce costs
d. Ability to understand and carry out the vision of patient care at Summa: to create a patient care environment which is focused on the needs and expectations of the patient, our customer
e. Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure and ability to take initiative to contribute beyond the scope of formal duties (e.g., suggesting innovative ideas and providing feedback on a team’s direction)
f. Demonstrates flexibility/adaptability in meeting environmental constraints and demands placed on services as is common with changing reimbursement and managed care targets.

h. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other health care professionals in exchanging information and assisting with patient care
