Job Description

Essential Job functions:

  • Under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Director, is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating daily operations to ensure quality patient care.
  • Be the liaison between the Physician and staff.
  • Provides leadership and support in day-to-day operations within the clinical setting along with the Clinical Coordinator/ Clinical Director. Serves as a role model and consultant for staff.
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Director, ensure policies and procedures are properly communicated and adhered to. Ensures staff members are competent in emergency protocol and procedures.
  • Completes and populates staff monthly schedules. Enters APC and Provider schedules in Scheduling Software. Manage staff PTO requests. Identifies staffing needs in advance, assists in utilizing resources effectively.
  • Monitors and controls overtime use. Manages weekly staff swipe reports.
  • Coordinates and assists with training, monitoring, and evaluation of staff. Plans and assists in the hiring and orientation of new office staff.
  • In collaboration with Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Director, evaluates clinical staff according to SMG policy and provides ongoing feedback. Conducts an annual performance evaluation input on each staff member of the department.
  • Monitors departmental compliance with all applicable standards (OSHA, HIPPA, Occurrence Reporting); reports compliance concerns; ensures utilization of resources for resolution of issues.
  • Works with UCC Physician Site Directors to ensure efficient office operations. Makes adjustments in workflow as necessary to ensure overall smooth functioning of the department and compliance of SMG policies. Communicates with physicians and physician site director on regular basis to ensure seamless flow of communications.
  • Resource for department to manage patient issues and concerns; reports back to Providers and Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Director.
  • In collaboration with Nurse Educator, maintains and expands staff competencies, as well as implementing ongoing internal education programs and encouraging participation in outside continuing education. Increases operational efficiency in sites through cross training of personnel. Supports any/all Career Ladder opportunities to bring staff to their highest potential.
  • Collaborates with Physician Site Director and Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Practice Manager to implement customer service action plans.
  • Holds daily staff huddles, with regular unit staff meetings; communicates pertinent SMG initiatives and information to staff. Attends Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Director’s meetings, departmental and supervisory meetings if requested.

  • Promotes education and staff development in employees with diverse backgrounds, education experience and clinical levels.

  • Delivers direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with SMG policy.
  • Prioritizes patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
  • Appropriately adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.
  • Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
  • Other duties as required.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
  • Physical agility, which includes the ability to maneuver body while in place.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).

  • Allergens: dust, mold and/or pollen
  • Combative Patients / Visitors

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:

  • Associate degree Required. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Active BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in Emergency Department setting
  • CEN preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license and Auto Insurance required.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices and protocols.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Ability to make decisions, delegate, and assure the welfare of the patient and the staff.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.

Travel:

  • Position may require travel to the 3 current Urgent Care sites and any additional sites to be built
