Purpose of Medicaid Specialist
The Medicaid Specialist is to assist in the daily accounting functions of Summit Healthcare's facilities in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles relating to the long-term care operation.
Medicaid Specialist Essential Job Duties
- Assist in managing skilled nursing/Long Term Care Medicaid application approval/renewal, posting of payments and adjustments, and assisting in the monitoring of the collection of accounts receivables for assigned payers and all reporting associated with the assigned payer.
- Knowledge of state regulations and requirements for qualifying for LTC/Long Term Care Medicaid.
- Experience keying, submitting Medicaid applications
- Assist facility Business Office Managers with the Medicaid application process from initiation through approval.
- Completes all Medicaid phases of balances and checks to close out month and begin statement process for assigned facilities by the last work day of the month.
- Responsible for reports, projects, and other clerical duties as may be assigned by the Regional Accounting Office Manager or Regional Director of Operations.
- Carries out all job duties following the established policies and practices consistent with the mission and philosophy of the facility.
- Responsible for promoting a safe work environment.
- Demonstrates an attitude of collaboration, cooperation and collegiality by the use of excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills and a spirit of team play in order to assure high quality out comes in all areas of responsibility.
- Maintains and promotes a strict level of confidentiality regarding residents and facility issues consistent with the Office Policies and Resident rights
Medicaid Specialist Education & Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience managing Long Term Care Medicaid process for a skilled nursing community.
