The Medical Assistant works as part of a health care team by assisting the physician in providing high quality patient care in a professional, efficient and safe manner. The Medical Assistant will also provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
OFFICE VISITS:
- Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into exam room
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height, as needed
- Assist patient and physician throughout the visit
- Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately
- Maintains clean patient exam rooms
- Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and dispose of contaminated supplies, as needed
- Communicates delays effectively when necessary
- Manage time efficiently for the practice to maintain patient flow
MISCELLANEOUS:
- Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and answering telephones
- Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels
- Keep relevant knowledge up-to-date and apply to everyday practice
- Effectively communicates with all team members to support a cohesive work environment
CHARTING:
- Enters patient information into the computer accurately
- Manages the physician’s desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner
Required Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant certificate or completion of a MA or phlebotomy program required
- Medical office experience preferred
- Must be able to multitask in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Phlebotomy certification and experience is a plus
- Demonstrates positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills, EMR experience preferred
Pay Range $18.00 to $23.00
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
