Project Manager, Laboratory Information Systems

Job Description Project Manager – LIS Manage LIS project development including both internal and external resources Collect and document project requirements from laboratory teams Ensure that project requirements and milestones are met Coordinate the testing, validation, and deployment of LIS Prepare and manage LIS documentation Communicate project progress to stakeholders and senior management Support the management team by providing leadership and program management control on key initiatives that contemplate budget, scope, resource capacity, current resource allocations, schedule, governance, intake, change management, etc. Leads determination of overall work breakdown structure and resourcing for large and complex projects, including impact assessment on other projects; drives project execution, including overall ownership of project resources. Provide performance monitoring, information and reporting; help diagnose root cause of problems and mitigate risks. Ensure teams are taking corrective action as necessary to deliver complete scope, desired quality and timeliness of strategic programs and work stream projects. Provide logistical & decision support for governance structure, including metrics, dashboards, reporting delivery and monthly meeting cadence on strategy and operations reviews; overall performance results to defined and agreed upon measurements. Provide leadership visibility into risk analysis, remediation and downstream impacts on current or planned projects. Lead and direct efforts associated with the development of monthly, quarterly, etc. leadership reports and presentations of program related work, results, lessons learned, etc. Creates and promotes a culture of collaboration, team-work and fun while delivering to or exceeding expectations. General Job functions: Meet with project sponsors to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project. Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels. Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with leadership as well as other staff members and project team Physical Job Requirements: - Dexterity of hands and fingers; Endurance (continuous typing); Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications: PMP Certification preferred BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field Experience: 3-5 years relevant project management and/or management experience from a Healthcare IT environment. Knowledge of project & program management methodologies, tools & techniques. Ability to creatively operationalize concepts and strategies that may be new and maturing in details and structure. Independent thinker and problem-solver; comfortable working in changing client organizational environment. Strong leadership, mentoring, organizational and communication skills. Strong ability to collaborate with peers to define business process issues, analyze operational efficiencies, implement creative solutions, and measure delivery results. Strong ability to positively point out risk and failures in face of dissenting views; willingness to take on challenges Proficiency using project management software Travel – Occasional travel between locations/main campus and satellites may be required for meeting purposes.
