Summit Medical Group is hiring for a Per Diem Sleep Technician to join our team in our Sleep Center in Madison, NJ!
Essential Job functions:
- Review existing information in patient record or on the patient data sheet.
- Examine orders and protocols for study.
- Interview patient to assess current medications, recent caffeine or alcohol ingestion, current sleep pattern, and need for treatment intervention during testing (e.g., insulin).
- Efficient application of recording devices to the patient, cleaning/sterilization of equipment and proper set up for monitoring of polysomnograms.
- Ensures the integrity of diagnostic data collection through proper calibration and vigilant monitoring throughout the procedure.
- Ability to recognize sleep pathology when it occurs and respond with the appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety
- Preparing for patient arrival by setting up equipment to be used, gathering necessary patient information, recording the montage to be utilized, preparing video and audio equipment as appropriate and obtaining patient questionnaires.
- Administer oxygen and continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure in accordance with established protocols. May perform special procedures such as multiple infant/pediatric polysomnograms, seizure monitoring, ambulatory monitoring, multiple sleep latency testing, maintenance of wakefulness testing, and end tidal CO2 monitoring.
- Ability and knowledge to follow all standard operating procedures at all times for patient studies and pre & post-study requirements.
- Comprehensive ability to record and score polysomnograms for both adult and basic pediatric sleep studies.
- Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
- Score clinical events (such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) utilizing American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards.
- Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
- Other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:
- At least one year-18 months of sleep experience is required.
- Four-year degree preferred. Continuing education in sleep diagnostics required per SSA policy.
- Active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.
- RPSGT eligible required (18 months of sleep experience) per facility policy; however, RPSGT preferred. RN, LPN, EMT, CRT, RRT preferre
