Overview of Role:
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for accounting close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and assisting with tax compliance and other ad hoc tasks.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Prepare month end and quarter end accrual journal entries and reconciliations for R&D functions
- Provide accurate, clear, and concise financial planning deliverables for executive review and use
- Prepare month end and quarter end GL account flux analysis
- Assist semi-monthly payment run, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices
- Handle ad-hoc AP related tasks, including vendor inquiries and payment discrepancies
- Assist with preparing Provided by Client (PBCs) schedules for tax filings and audits
- Perform other financial reporting tasks as needed, including the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Ensure the quality of work product complies with SOX requirements and that financial data is recorded in compliance with GAAP
- Analyze financial and business performance against key business metrics and identify areas of financial impact as it ties to the broader strategic organizational plan
- Effectively use and implement tools/methods to communicate sophisticated data, trends, and topics
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline R&D accrual processes, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- All other duties as assigned
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters in Accounting or similar field required; CPA preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience including but not limited to General Ledger and clinical trial accruals
- Biotech industry experience required
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP by design) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- An ability to work well cross functionally and across geographies independently
- Impeccable integrity and a strong work ethic
- Strong computer and database skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
- Exceptional writing, communication, interpersonal & presentation skills
- Excellent organizational, management, analytical & decision-making skills

The pay range for this role is $200,000-$230,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable variable compensation. The successful candidate will also be eligible for health benefits, 401(k) with 6% employer match from day one, ESPP with up to a 15% discount up to the federal limit, flexible spending account among other benefits.
