QA Manager, Manager Quality Assurance,

Position Summary: Manages and coordinates the day-to-day operation of Clayton’s Quality Assurance to include supervision of QA personnel, lab operations, and testing procedures of raw materials and finished product to ensure regulatory compliance. Also, ensures that QA policies and procedures are correctly implemented with adherence to the company, customer, and regulatory standards. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Maintains constant surveillance either directly or through the supervisor over quality specifications, finished product quality monitoring and product yields 2. Provides leadership and actively participates in periodic trainings and technical training programs for manufacturing and quality control personnel 3. Develops and implements inspection programs and other quality programs to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and specifications 4. Ensures that periodic QA reviews, audits, and trainings (GMP, HACCP, Plant Security, Food Safety, Foreign Material, Chemical, Recall, Pest Control, and other quality systems) are scheduled, conducted, and signed off 5. Updates and maintains quality manuals, customer’s quality manuals, equipment manuals and procedural manuals to ensure regulatory requirements and Company standards are met. 6. Responsible for ensuring the following safety requirements are met: - Conducting safety orientation and safety training of employees - Enforcing safe work practices - Correcting unsafe conditions - Preventing lingering unsafe and unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards - Investigating workplace accidents 7. Supervises periodic independent audits, internal audits, daily process reviews and daily inspection results. Notes trends and develops improvement plans in coordination with other departments. 8. Provides leadership for the identification, investigation, and troubleshooting of food processing problems and non-conformances to ensure compliance with product and packaging consistency, food safety and quality standards 9. Assists in the identification, investigation and troubleshooting of foreign objects or substances found in raw material or finished product 10. Interacts with all levels of plant management to provide quality and food-safety related information, and keeps the Plant Manager apprised of quality and food safety concerns 11. Assists in the development and writing of policies, finished product specifications, ingredient specifications, packaging specifications and processing procedures. Ensures polices are implemented and maintained. 12. Ensures that all products failing to meet predetermined specifications are identified, tagged, segregated, and given proper disposition. 13. Represents the department in working with various governmental regulatory agencies, customers, suppliers, etc. as directed by the VP Quality Assurance and Research & Development. Responds to customer complaints. 14. Assists Technical Services, Product Development, Environmental Services, and others with special projects as requested 15. Ensures continuous improvements to procedures plant wide 16. Performs other duties as assigned by VP Quality Assurance and Research & Development.

Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or equivalent experience in a related field * Broad in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques * Ability to speak, write and understand English * Good communication skills (both oral and written) essential * 3-5 years’ supervisory or management experience * Prefer experience in food manufacturing in Quality or Technical Services
