Analyze medical, personal and financial information to evaluate eligibility for applications submitted for Life and Critical Illness Insurance products Assess and classify risk. Gather additional information, obtain medical tests or refer cases as required Approve cases within authority limit. Submit cases exceeding limits to be co-signed Where decisions are unfavourable for the client, try to negotiate a better decision from our reinsurers, in accordance with reinsurance treaties and internal rules Liaise with business leaders and advisors delivering exceptional service and expertise Communicate and explain decisions effectively to financial security advisors and/or client’s physician as required Respond to inquiries from financial advisors and general agents without revealing confidential content Document decisions in underwriting system Contribute to a positive environment through team work, and a spirit of innovation, continuous improvement and professional development Maintain medical knowledge and stay current on underwriting approaches What do you need to succeed? As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide. Existing Life and Critical Illness signing authorities Bachelor's degree or equivalent Analytical, judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills Influencing and negotiation skills Knowledge of medicine and risk factors Service-oriented attitude with interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with our internal and external partners Proven ability to meet tight deadline, work under pressure prioritizing multiple tasks Detail oriented and accuracy ALU certificate and commitment to ongoing education with a goal of attaining the Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designations, is an asset What's in it for you?
