Job Title: LIFT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports To: Lift Operations Manager

Rate of Pay: $19.00 per hour

Shift: Weekends, holidays, nights and special events are required based on business needs. FTYR Position is usually 5 days/week.


SUMMARY

Lift Operations Supervisor will assist the Lift Operations Manager in the daily running of Lifts. Primary responsibility is to help create a safe lift experience for our guests while delivering a dynamic and engaging experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist in hiring summer and winter lift operators.

Work with Lift Operations Manager in all aspects of daily lift operations.

Work closely with Lift Maintenance Supervisor and report any lift maintenance concerns to ensure timely repairs and minimize loss of operations.

Assist with lift maintenance where needed during the summer and winter operating seasons.

Assist with lift maintenance projects during off-season when not needed for supervisory projects.

Develop and maintain a high-quality training program for all staff. Insure all mid-season hires are trained to the same level as all pre-season hires.

Conduct daily pre-shift training meetings with staff.

Ensure all lift stations are covered by scheduled employees.

Support on-mountain recycling program.

Ensure all state and industry standards for staffing and operations of lifts are met.

Be proficient in ability to program the night skiing lifts for both winter and summer needs.

Support scanning program and ensure consistent use of scanners. Work closely with IT to resolve scanner issues to minimize gaps in scanning coverage.

Work with the Ticket Office to resolve pass issues and insure that everyone riding the lift has a valid pass.

Understand the budget related to lift operations to include labor and supplies and assist Lift Operations Manager in managing budget.

Inspect lift sign program to ensure all signage is updated, presentable and is displayed according to industry standards.

Know and understand OSHA and ANSI standards as they relate to lift operations. Ensure that Sundance Lift Operations is in compliance with these industry standards.

Assist in managing the Sundance Lift Operators employee manual and SOP's.

Coordinate with Mountain Safety to insure necessary support and coverage on control mornings or snow events.

Work closely with Ski/Bike Patrol in areas that require cross-training and support such as weather holds, lift/mountain evacuation, and accident investigations.

Work with Mountain Guard to insure Sundance lift policies, manuals, etc. are in line with industry standards.

Coordinate with Zip Tour operations to insure smooth lift access and coordinate daily operational needs.

Work closely with Snowsports department. Assist with coordinating needs like early clinic loads and pre-season cross-training.

Act as the point person for Lift Operations in the absence of the Lift Operations Manager.

Organize lift line clean ups and maintain clean and organized space around lifts to include trash and clutter.

Collaborate with Bearclaw management to insure smooth operations between the two departments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with Lift Operations Manager in managing all staff involved in lift operations. This can range from 30-35 during summer months to 65-85 during the winter. Always act as a leader and set an example to all staff.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Complete all applicable paperwork for the above responsibilities and submit to HR in a timely manner.


Assist with building a strong leadership team within the lift department. This includes scheduling and attending regular Foreman meetings, conducting ongoing training for Lift Foremen and Level 2 Operators, and assisting those working on Level 1, Level 2, and Foreman packets in order to qualify for promotion within Lift Operations.

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position, for example: minimize waste, recycle, conserve energy, purchase and use sustainable products, educate co-workers/guests on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats, car-pool with colleagues and coworkers to minimize carbon emissions. All employees are invited to participate in environmental or Sundance Preserve sponsored events.


DRESS CODE

Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele. In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, employees are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area. Please use the following as a minimum standard:


All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Employees are required to wear nametags at all times while on duty.

Clothing must be unwrinkled and clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Blue jeans are permitted.

Men's shirts must be tucked in.

Appropriate skirt length is from the knee to the ankle.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.

Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.

Proper footwear for your department is required.

Dress sandals are permitted for females.

Flip flops are prohibited in all areas.

Tennis shoes are prohibited unless there is a business need (i.e.: Canyon Clean Up, Guided Hike)

T-shirts must be in good condition and posses appropriate Sundance logos.

Hats are not permitted indoors.

Must have a minimum of 2 years of Foreman or Supervisor experience related to Lift Operations. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Must possess a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, internet navigation and electronic mail. Operate 2-way radios for communication to other staff.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing as determined by Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
