Now hiring booksellers to staff an exciting new bookstore in the center of Downtown San Pedro's Arts District!
Candidates must be book-readers (or book-listeners) and prior bookstore experience is a huge plus.
Hiring for PT and FT positions.
Additional compensation may be available for candidates who can provide floating coverage to other locations or make deliveries.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner
- Assist customers in finding books, recommending titles, and providing information about authors and genres
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the cash register or POS system
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including shelving books, restocking shelves, and arranging displays
- Answer phone calls and inquiries with professionalism and courtesy
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving and stocking new merchandise
- Stay up-to-date with new book releases, bestsellers, and current literary trends
Skills:
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a tidy and well-stocked store
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems for processing transactions
- Exceptional customer service skills to provide a positive shopping experience
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Effective time management to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred but not required
- Previous experience in retail sales or book sales is a plus
