JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of facility and Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
- Maintains relations with local vendors and places orders for building, construction, and maintenance supplies.
- Effectively manage Company resources and ensure efficient operations of Facility Maintenance with minimal staff resources.
- Determines and oversees needed preventive maintenance of buildings, HVAC systems, and forklift equipment.
- Prepares and maintains reports of forklift maintenance.
- Demonstrate experience utilizing Lean/5S tools and leading cost saving initiatives to drive down waste.
- Ensures inventory of needed maintenance supplies.
- Communicates regularly with management regarding the status of current project initiatives, obtains guidance and approval as required to advance initiatives.
- Reviews annual contracts and coordinating contractors for various jobs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, along with identifying worn and damaged parts needing repair or replacement.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repair work necessary on electric forklift and pallet jack equipment.
- General maintenance of facility to include, but not limited to: cleanup/removal of equipment/painting/pressure washing, electrical, etc
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Proficiency in electrical and I.C. equipment repairs
- Methods, material, tools, and techniques used in forklift repair and maintenance
- Safety practices and procedures
- Ability to service gas, electric, and propane forklifts
- Able to work day, afternoon, or evening shift
- Good verbal, written skills
- Ability to work on a team as well as unsupervised
- Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented.
- Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organization.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma and five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Possess or have ability to become forklift certified
- Drivers License or equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents, including protocols and standard operating procedures. Must be able to read, interpret, and design documents pertinent to maintenance responsibilities including instruction and repair manuals, safety and operating procedures, and Company documents.
REASONING ABILITY:
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
