POSITION TITLE: GAGE ASSEMBLER II
REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR, GAGE ASSEMBLY
POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties required to operate tools and gages in compliance with safety standards.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions:
1. Complete projects from setup sheets and blueprints.
2. Power clean all sides of parts with alcohol in order to remove grease.
3. Operate belt sander, sand blaster, and small tools to include drills, hand tools, torches, presses and fixtures.
4. Utilize precision measuring tools and various gages to ensure parts meet specifications.
5. Set tight tolerances and calibrate gages to meet established guidelines.
6. Operate computer to input production time; check quantity and status of parts as well as any other necessary standard operation.
7. Repair customer precision measuring gages and setting fixtures of various kinds.
8. Disassemble, troubleshoot and replace bad parts; clean and re-assemble parts as well as calibrate according to blueprint tolerance.
9. Assemble new gages and setting fixtures.
10. Review blueprints, setup sheets and various fixtures for small assemblies and various measuring devices.
11. Complete lapping on pins for flatness according to blueprints.
12. Grind parts to tolerance using grinder and torque wrench.
13. Evaluate customer gages and estimate parts and time for special gages.
14. Respond to customer service questions.
15. Inspect all jobs to ensure they meet quality standards.
16. Complete work in other departments, to include packing, die-casting for break-off parts, and other small assembly jobs.
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop and crouch, push, pull, reach, grasp, feel, talk, and hear.
2. Generally light physical effort. The employee is required to lift more than 60 pounds rarely and/or 25 to 60 pounds occasionally and move around large areas or to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects unassisted or with the use of a hand truck or hoist.
3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include clarity of vision at a distance of 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships along with adjusting the eye to bring objects into sharp focus for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Good working conditions. Worker may be exposed to disagreeable elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Job requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers including decimals and fractions. Simple reference use of formulas, charts, shop prints, specifications and computer scanning devices.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one year up to and including three years to gain sufficient experience to perform the requirements of the position.

1. Ability to read, write and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
2. Ability to work with little direct supervision.
3. Ability to deal with problems involving standardized situations.
