Job Title: Life Enrichment- Lead
Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: 3935 Sunnyside Drive Harrisonburg VA 22801 Healthcare
Hours: Full Time, Benefits Eligible, 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. Please note rotating weekends, evenings, and holidays are required.
Primary Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Life Enrichment Leader are to support in implementing therapeutic, purposeful, & meaningful group and individual leisure pursuits that correlate to resident life stories, past/current interests, occupations, and social histories. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assessing, planning, implementing, & evaluating leisure programming and maintaining documentation to include assessments, progress notes, care plans, and participation recordkeeping all in conjunction with local, stated, and federal guidelines.
Duties:
- Support program planning and implementation to provide leisure pursuits to include the following domains: social, physical, spiritual, cognitive, sensory, productive, nature, outings, multigenerational, volunteer, reflective, creative
- Prepare room and supplies for group programming
- Encourage attendance to group programming and transport residents accordingly
- Develop and participate in group programming that covers seven days a week including evenings and holidays
- Develop and implement individual leisure pursuits related to resident interests
- Develop a professional relationship with residents, families, and guests
- Participate in care plan & interdisciplinary meetings as needed
- Conduct assessments, creates care plans, and writes progress notes as needed
- Shop for supplies and submit receipts appropriately
- Keep supplies & equipment neat and organized
- Works with volunteers to provide orientation, direction, and oversee their assignments
- Visit and orient new residents to life enrichment opportunities
- Work cooperatively with other departments; communicate & collaborate effectively in order to ensure resident leisure needs are met
- Lead Resident Council meetings as needed; take notes and report outcomes of meetings
- Plan and implement a wide variety of programming that meets the needs of each resident
- Develops and distributes life enrichment calendar and related correspondence/ communications on a timely basis; as needed and in conjunction with the Life Enrichment Coordinator
- Utilize on-line volunteer scheduling system
- Participates in life enrichment educational opportunities and professional groups
- Acts in the absence of the Life Enrichment Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree required
- Prior work experience with older adults; long term care experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid certified or ability to obtain
- Activity Professional Certification- APC (or equivalent) or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Current Virginia driver’s license and meets driver eligibility requirements per Sunnyside policy HR069 as well as ability to drive a 14 passenger wheelchair bus
- Ability to utilize computers, general office equipment, and various technology devices
- Certified Dementia Practitioner or ability to obtain within one year of hire
- Ability to assess and evaluate resident leisure pursuits and provide appropriate outlets for expression
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations

Physical & Environmental Considerations:
This job operates in a healthcare environment with activity rooms and office space with normal lighting levels, temperature ranges, air quality, ventilation and noise levels. Special events, temperatures vary with the season and location. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time. Additionally employee will routinely sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 30 lbs or less and occasionally more than 40 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.General hazards related to operation and maintenance of activity equipment. Hazards related to exposure and handling of cleaning supplies as well as possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Minimal hazards if universal precautions are followed.
