Sunplus is seeking a Sr Network Enginner for our gov client in Columbia SC. The rate is 75/hr. 50% remote work but must be local or willing to relocate.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT: CANDIDATE WILL REPORT TO THE AGENCY NETWORK ARCHITECT, COORDINATE ON PROJECTS WITH AGENCY CHIEF INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER AND OTHER TECHNICAL LEADS, TO INCLUDE AGENCY DATA AND TELECOMMUNICATION MANAGER.
The CFS Project is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and obtaining federal certification of a federally-mandated Child Support Enforcement System (CSES) that provides comprehensive support to the operation of South Carolina’s Palmetto Automated Child Support System (PACSS) program as well as maintaining communication services for ongoing use of the Family Court Case Management System (FCCMS) for the 46 Clerks of Court, as well as for the development and implementation of future updates and integrations to the FCCMS architecture. This position will support the CFS Project initiatives. This position will also work with Technology Services application and technical teams to design, implement, and secure a stable, consistent network architecture and infrastructure that can serve, secure, and support Agency initiatives and services.
DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate should demonstrate expert level for monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting a statewide network (WAN, LAN and wireless) that runs mostly on CISCO and Meraki technology. The incumbent should be proficient on configuring and maintaining/patching CISCO firewalls ASA5508-X, ASA5585-X, FirePower4110, FirePower2120 and switches 3750, C9500, C9300, Nexus5k and Nexus7k. The applicant will also conduct remote troubleshooting with the Agency’s partners in the state’s (not SC DSS’) county IT teams, so general knowledge of a wide range of firewalls is expected.
The candidate should have hands-on experience on maintaining Meraki switches, wireless access points, firewalls (MX450) and Cisco Security Manager is also required. Secondary experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred: CISCO ISE, .1X, AD, DNS, ADFS, PKI and PowerShell.
The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed implementation and test plans for deployment and ongoing support of Cisco/Meraki technologies along with best of breed tools and technologies related to enterprise networks.
• Daily duties will include: Research and analyze existing software releases, as well as perform/support software upgrades; monitor and provide support for existing statewide site-to-site tunnels infrastructure; monitor and correlate data across different monitoring systems for troubleshooting communication issues; create policies and manage Cisco Identify Services Engine (ISE); coordinate and research security initiatives with the Agency Network Architect and Chief Information Security Officer; work closely with Agency staff, partners and vendors to secure and improve production services.
• This position must be available to work off hours and on weekend to implement scheduled maintenance. The Agency has program services that must be available 24/7, but does have a defined service window.
Candidate will be part of a multi team environment and must have the ability to work as part of those teams and must have the ability to support multiple tasks at the same time, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The candidate will work closely with technical teams and should be able to provide knowledge transfer and informal training to peers where appropriate.
This employee will support multiple implementation projects. For those projects where the candidate is assigned the lead role, the candidate will be responsible for managing projects from start to finish, defining the scope, driving requirements, building architectures and working the solution from end-to-end. The candidate must be able to work with technical peers and end users, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines.
