Our Livonia, Michigan office is currently looking for a Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic Human Resources team! The primary function of this position will assist in administering Mastronardi’s benefit programs including: medical, dental, life, disability insurances, 401(k) plan, flexible spending account, paid time off, FMLA/leave of absences, and workers compensation.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Processing benefit related transactions such as open enrollment, life event changes and National Medical Support Orders.
- Prepare, maintain and present up to date materials for New Hire Orientation.
- Maintain up to date employee benefit files in accordance with legal requirements and company policy.
- Administer benefit enrollment on the benefits enrollment platform and ensure proper enrollment in a timely fashion.
- Assist with filing workers compensation claims and escalated claim concerns.
- Assist in the administration and tracking of leaves of absence including STD/LTD, FMLA, Non-FMLA, and Worker’s Compensation.
- Partner with employees who need a leave of absence to provide guidance and documentation needed.
- Connect with employees on their return to work and communicate changes in return to work dates, leave status, etc. with local HR/ managers and update HRIS with current leave status.
- Compliance, auditing and document control responsibility.
- Review and update forms related to Benefit transactions as needed.
- Complete benefits billing and submit to accounting for payment.
- Administer and track benefits premiums recouping process and benefits deduction corrections as needed.
- Support employees and local HR teams with benefit issues with timely resolution.
Education/Background Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Four or more years of experience in benefits administration required or years of equivalent experience in a human resources generalist capacity with benefits and leave administration focus.

- Ability to work independently to problem solve, present, communicate and recommend resolutions.
- Ability to stay abreast of changing federal, local and state requirements as it pertains to leaves and benefits.
- Requires a direct, empathetic communication style.
