Library Circulation Assistant (Fall 2024) The Help Center
Provide face-to-face customer service to library patrons. Daily tasks may include :
- loaning / returning books and equipment
- opening and / or closing the library
- navigating the SUNY Cortland website and myRedDragon to find information
- configuring mobile devices to the SUNY Cortland Wi-Fi network
- answering telephones
- assisting customers with Microsoft Office and other supported software applications
- answering directional questions
- shelving books
- troubleshoot WEPA print stations
- instructing customers in use of library equipment
Hours of coverage coincide with Memorial Library’s hours of operation, which are subject to change. Based on the current hours of operation, coverage is required for the following :
- Monday through Thursday 7 : 45 a.m. to midnight
- Friday from 7 : 45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday from 9 : 45 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday from 10 : 45 a.m. to midnight
Study Days and Finals week require extended hours.

- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a currently matriculated SUNY Cortland
- Must be willing to work weekends, early morning and late night shifts
- Experience using myRedDragon
- Experience working in a library or similar setting
- Experience providing customer service
- Ability to push and pull loaded book trucks and to lift 20 pounds
