What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Athletics Sports Information Coordinator position at SUNY Ulster?
The Part Time Athletics Sports Information Coordinator will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Services and Athletic Director and will serve as the primary contact for athletics sports information. Under the direction of the Athletic Director, this person will report to promote SUNY Ulster athletics in social media platforms, website content and media information, as well as competition statistical reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Writing and designing media guides, writing and distributing press releases, game programs, game stories, postgame releases, and other publications.
- Providing game-day statistics management as required for all region/conference games and facilitating stats for games.
- Submitting all weekly statistical reports to NJCAA, Region XV, and Mid-Hudson Conference, etc.
- Promoting Athletics programs, game recaps, upcoming events through social media, press/hometown releases and other publicity formats.
- Maintaining and updating the Athletics website, and serving as the primary liaison between the College, Arbitor and Presto, as well as NJCAA, Region XV, Mid-Hudson Conference, the College's athletic website vendor.
- Arranging for team, staff and game photos.
- Act as on site supervisor for home athletic events
- Provide additional services as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics/Assistant Dean for Student Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree and previous experience with College Athletics in a higher education setting; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; ability to support high academic standards and to motivate students; demonstrated commitment to the College's Athletics program goals; and knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of a diverse campus community; ability to utilize appropriate technology including databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software; ability to think critically and identify patterns, trends and solutions; possess excellent oral, interpersonal and written skills to effectively communicate with diverse internal and external college constituencies. Ability to work nights and weekends. Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.

Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
Salary:
$7500 stipend prorated for hire date through end of June 30, 2022 (FY). Placement within that range will depend upon qualifications. All positions are contingent upon adequate funding.
Work Schedule:
Hours of work are considered flexible due to the nature of athletics events, which can take place during normal business hours, however evenings, weekends, and holidays are part of the scope of work for this position.
