In this position the social worker is assigned to provide coverage on the Inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at the Upstate University Hospital Campus. The unit serves youth ages 12-17 who require short term, acute inpatient mental health care. The social worker provides comprehensive psycho-social assessment, intervention, management, support and assess for discharge planning and after care needs to at risk pediatric and adolescent families. In addition, the social worker addresses social determinates of health and works collaboratively with the pediatric psychiatric inpatient multidisciplinary team. Previous knowledge and experience with the psychiatric population, suicide interventions and OMH regulations are preferred. Other assigned duties and task based upon operational needs.
M.S.W from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE); M.S.W., L.M.S.W., L.C.S.W. or eligible, 3 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required. New M.S.W. graduates who are L.M.S.W. eligible will be considered for appointment to entry level (SL2) position at a commensurate salary after obtaining a Limited Permit. Incumbent must obtain L.M.S.W. within 12 months of receipt of limited permit.
