POSITION: Business Manager
HOURS: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm (hours may vary)
DAYS: 220 days – 12 month position
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SALARY: $60,000
SUMMARY:
The Business Manager is responsible for all financial functions of the district in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and school district policy. This includes budgeting, financial accounting, financial analysis, internal and external reporting, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract administration, payroll and employee benefits.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
· Successful experience working in school finance.
· Eligible for Certification through MSBO.
· Knowledgeable and proficient in Microsoft Office and computer systems for accounting and payroll.
· Knowledge of auditing, budgeting and analysis, and state and federal grant guidelines.
· Strong analytical, detail oriented and critical thinking skills.
· Ability to use independent judgement, exercise flexibility, and make crucial decisions with little oversight while in accordance with district policies and procedures.
· Ability to work under pressure and multi-task with frequent interruptions and time constraints.
· Ability to handle confidential information.
· Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for the daily financial activities of the school, including budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, payroll, benefits, and contract and grant compliance.
· Development, preparation and ongoing analysis of District budgets, including presentation materials for the Board of Education.
· Preparation of monthly financial statements for the Board of Education.
· Provide accurate accounting and strong internal control for all District funds.
· Analyzes District’s short and long-term cash flow as needed, including regular reporting, recommends borrowing as necessary, and performs all duties to complete successful borrowing.
· Ensures that the District meets all state and federal reporting requirements, such as the annual audit, continuing disclosure, single audit, Financial Information Database (FID), budget transparency reporting, grant reporting and all other financial reports.
· Implements the District policy/procedures related to finance and purchasing.
· Reconciles property taxes including analysis by the municipality, delinquent tax payments, and form L4029.
· Attend meetings and present as appropriate (Board of Education meetings, contract negotiations, staff meetings, etc.).
