Senior Accountant (Fixed Assets)

Summary of Position Reporting directly to the Fixed Assets Manager, the Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets maintains the workflows and Fixed Assets systems. The Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets ensures that additions and disposal are properly recorded and supported. Each month the Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets calculates and records depreciation and amortization expense for capital and intangible assets. Major Activities ·Record additions, disposals and depreciation/amortization of fixed assets for entire United States operations. Manage regular schedule cycle counts of assets and perform semi-annual review of tank assets for completeness of asset listing and existence of assets. ·Maintain capital lease activity (real property and fleet) and under IFRS 16 rules. Work with banking partners to arrange monthly lease payments and to manage new and expiring leases. Update expiring lease accounting depending on whether lease is renewed. ·Obtain proper committee approval for all new capital projects. Maintain capital project summaries, and collect all invoices related to the project. Maintain reporting on project spend vs. approval. Review aged projects with managers and to ensure timely in-service placement and depreciation. ·Prepare general ledger account reconciliations. ·Prepare monthly internal and external reporting as well as quarterly tax reporting. ·Prepare quarterly Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) analysis, including estimation of cash flows for retirement activities, calculation of the credit-adjusted risk-free rate, and adjustment to the carrying amount of the ARO liability. ·Technical research, additional analysis and special reporting, as requested. Education and Experience ·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. ·Minimum 2 years’ experience in a previous accounting role. ·CPA candidate Specialized Trade Requirements and Other Job-Related Skills ·General understanding of accounting principles  ·Understand the business operating model.
