Estimator & Project Manager - Structural & Miscellaneous Metals

What You Will Do:

As an Estimator & Project Manager, you are responsible for reading and understanding job bid instructions, detailed specifications, and construction/architect plans and prepare a takeoff of necessary materials, labor, design, engineering sub trades, and equipment costs in order to deliver complete, accurate, timely and thorough project cost estimate packages.  You will effectively manage structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects while building relationships with external and internal customers and category experts to collaborate on winning bids.

How You Will Do It:

• Prepare quantity takeoff and pricing on new projects and any change orders on existing contracts in a timely manner
• Read, understand and interpret job bid instructions, construction documents, blueprints and detailed specifications for preparation of estimates
• Prepare takeoff of materials, estimate all necessary shop labor, buyout items and equipment costs to prepare a thorough bid estimate
• Source and send RFQ’s to steel erectors and other subcontractors as needed 
• Ensure that all projects and deliverables are completed properly within the scope of the contract
• Identify, request, and follow up on required information from architects and engineers
• Schedule production and delivery of materials
• Develop and maintain customer and vendor  relationships
• Effectively communicate with clients, suppliers, contractors, architects, engineers, and detailers via phone, email, and face-to face
• Perform all other duties as assigned and required
• Follow all company and common-sense safety policies, while using all required personal protective equipment

The position requires…

• Experience in structural and miscellaneous metal fabrication required
• Prior estimating and project management experience preferred but not required if you possess extensive experience in the trade
• Ability to read design drawings required
• Working from the office located at the operations  (work from home not optional)
• The ability to excel in a fast-paced, competitive environment
• Organized with extreme attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and the ability to maintain professionalism in the workplace
