Job Summary
Supervise a crew of up to 60 drivers and other personnel in all facets of trucking operations. Position is responsible for daily work activity, reporting, assisting with dispatching, and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Oversea team of dump truck drivers delivering and receiving loads.
- Review trip/driving reports for accuracy and ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations.
- Assist with dispatching and scheduling work assignments as required.
- Supervise, train, and direct activities of workers. Communicate, manage and measure performance.
- Tour work site, check quality of work, and detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Keep an accurate and detailed daily log manually and or electronically according to established standards.
- Report any required equipment repairs to the shop, as they become known.
- Manage employee work time and attendance according to company procedures and policies.
- Support and maintain all Company policies including those for safety, EEO, AA and a Drug Free Workplace.
- Complete accident reports and documentation and report the accident to Safety Officer and/or Operations Manager immediately.
- Maintain positive relationships with Federal and State representatives.
- Make recommendations for improved efficiencies.
- Meet established quality control standards.
- Measure, verify and comply with all company and governmental environmental, safety and health policies and regulations in conjunction with and through close coordination with the Safety Department.
- Oversee and fill-in for dispatcher and other members of the team assist with maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Job Requirements
- Previous trucking operations experience and supervision.
- Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment helpful but not required.
- Ability to drive a truck as needed.
- Ability to adhere to Superior policies and other safety regulations.
- Ability to formulate and maintain project documentation.
- A good understanding of state, local and private requirements and regulations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills or the ability to learn to fulfill daily input requirements for reporting and timekeeping.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates and have good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and nights as required.
- Valid CDL with a satisfactory driving record required. Ability to travel to jobs in Central, Northern Virginia, and the tri-state area.
- High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
