Position Scope:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for new product introductions, product and process support and improvement, assisting with the development and implementation of processes and methods to improve overall product & process safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Resolves day-to-day production & product issues that come up.
- Provides technical assistance regarding the quality and/or performance of processes, equipment, tools, fixtures, gauges, etc.
- Serves as liaison between production and engineering by developing and managing the implementation of engineering change notices and process specifications pertaining to product, process, and materials.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment that is federal, state, local environmental and safety regulations compliant.
- Performs root cause analysis to determine causes of line defects and engages all pertinent business units to drive improvement in line yields.
- Supports and executes Lean Manufacturing efforts.
- Develops manufacturing processes capable of achieving product design requirements.
- Coordinates efforts to design, develop and validate manufacturing processes and equipment using tools such as DOE and SPC.
- Creates detailed project plans and manages the execution of assigned projects from start to finish.
- Develops solutions to rectify safety/ergonomic concerns, which may involve analyzing work methods, fixture design or identifying new ways of doing a task.
- Training & mentor personnel on established methods/procedures and facilitate transfer of technical knowledge.
- Develop and maintain performance tracking measures such as Yield, Scrap Cost, and Line Downtime.
- Perform other related duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or closely related engineering field and (4) to (10) years related experience and/or training.
- This position requires strong communication skills, product liability awareness, and excellent decision-making abilities.
- Must be an adept and experienced problem solver that can determine root cause of technical issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs and be proficient with CAD (Solidworks required, AutoCAD /Draftsight desirable)
- Proficient in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5).
- Must have general understanding of quality systems, welding/metal fabrication, tooling/fixturing, manufacturing processes, and maintenance operations.
- An entrepreneurial, product design/development, and/or product/production support background is desirable.
- Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems desirable.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma desirable.
- Experience with CNC machining and programming using MASTERCAM, Gibbs or Predator desirable.
- Robot and PLC programming desirable.
Salary : $75,000 - $105,000
