What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator/Formax-1st Shift Surlean AZ position at Surlean Foods?
Purpose: To operate machinery in a manner that maximizes production and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Follow proper GMP’s.
- Lock out all equipment before setup.
- Inspect equipment during set up and report any abnormalities to the Supervisor.
- Set up, Operate, and adjust Formax machinery to produce products according to customer specifications.
- Maintain formaxes supplied with patty paper.
- Monitor product during production for abnormalities and defects.
- Monitor finished product weights to determine formax adjustments.
- Clean out excessive rework product from within the formax machinery.
- Start and stop the formax equipment as needed.
- Assist packers with rework product according to rework program.
- Maintain a clean workplace.
- Responsible for dry pickup.
- All other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Assist Supervisor and Lead while giving breaks
- Break down and clean out equipment at the end of the shift.
Working Conditions:
Reports to work at assigned time. Ending time will vary based upon production requirements for the day. Flexibility in work hours and days is crucial. The temperatures range from 30 to 50 degrees in the processing rooms. There is exposure to equipment and machinery that are considered to be hazardous. Potential electrical, mechanical, chemical, and heat hazards are also present. The level of noise is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick. Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
Frequently stands, lifts, walks, reaches, stoops, bends over, handles product, smells, listens, speaks, and sees to perform the essential job duties.
Knowledge:
- To strive to meet all daily ship schedules.
- Know metal detector policy and proper handling of product.
- To keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.
- Know and understand how to keep area clean.
- To have an up to date inventory of packing supplies.
- Have knowledge of sanitation procedures.
- Be willing to rotate jobs.
- Know and understand good manufacturing practices.
- Know and understand safety guidelines.
- Know and understand lockout/tag out procedures.
- Other jobs as assigned.
Education and Work Experience: High school education or equivalent preferred. Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team effort.
