Survios is currently searching for a talented Lead Artist to help visualize the future of immersive gaming. We are looking for an individual who is a good communicator, a motivating force, and inspires artists to create first-rate content for VR games. To succeed, you must help create and execute an art development plan, have excellent artistic as well as technical art chops, and mentor creative artists. You will also lead by example by directly contributing to art creation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with project leadership to ensure the product vision is realized in the game.
  • Maintain consistent and open communication with the studio art director in order to keep art direction in alignment with studio objectives.
  • Create and execute a plan to deliver all necessary art on time and within budget.
  • Support and advise the project leadership.
  • Create and enforce appropriate art direction, quality, and performance standards for all art within the project.
  • Manage and contribute to art development by working closely with all art disciplines, including environment, character, animation, technical, visual effects, lighting, etc.
  • Mentor artists and review their work, with an eye towards balancing quality and productivity.
  • Directly contribute to art creation, as necessary.
  • Daily communication with all disciplines to ensure the artists remain in alignment with a project's goals.
  • Create, update, and organize art documentation.

Requirements:

  • Accomplished visual artist with 3 years in a leadership role.
  • 2 shipped titles on console, PC, or VR.
  • Expert understanding of fundamental artistic principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effective collaborator with contributors, leads, and directors from all disciplines.
  • Experience with the production of optimized, game-ready 3D models using current industry standard content creation software.
  • Significant experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5, including the material and shader system.
  • Experience with level creation tools including gray boxing techniques, modeling, streaming, and lighting.
  • Flexible and adaptable to new tools, environments, and unexpected challenges.

  • Formal Art Education.
  • Drawing/Painting ability.
  • Previous work in VR and/or a passion for VR.

Salary : $61,300 - $77,700
