What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Susser Bank?

The Accountant, under direction of the CFO, has full responsibility for the payment of all invoices, monitoring cash balances, properly recording transactions in Quick Books, and preparing various financial statements, reports and schedules for the single-family office entities.

Key duties include:

  • Pay bills timely for the family, 1 office operation and several investment/trust entities; assist as needed with 2 related families
  • Account for all transactions in Quick Books, and perform Quick Books administrator functions (updates etc). Approximately 25 different entities are maintained in Quick Books, with majority of activity in 5 entities
  • Prepare payroll for 5 employees, including payroll tax filings and W-2 reporting
  • Prepare financial statement schedules for key entities on a quarterly basis
  • Monitor cash balances in checking/investment accounts and make transfers as needed
  • Download investment statements monthly and record transactions and valuation changes.
  • Monitor private investments for capital calls and distributions and account for valuation changes.
  • Reconcile bank statements (~15 accounts, with most activity in 3 accounts)
  • Manage charitable contributions
  • Assist with providing information as needed to tax preparers
  • Prepare 1099’s as required
  • Process mail daily
  • Provide backup support for phones and other administrative tasks as needed

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years full-charge bookkeeping experience in a family office or corporate environment; an associates or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance may be used to reduce/replace the experience requirement
  • Proficient in Quick Books, Excel, Office 365
  • Adhere to the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism; exhibit a positive “can do” attitude
  • High attention to detail; able to work independently
  • Will need to be flexible and might be asked to support Susser Bank activities, or other tasks as assigned on occasion
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
