Position Overview:

Completes routine housekeeping duties and ensures that the Medical Center is provided with a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and employees.

Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs basic cleaning functions in assigned area following established schedule and procedure. Completes daily assigned activities with optimal usage of resources.

  • Assists with evacuation, bed-preparation, and other duties as assigned during a fire or disaster emergency.

  • Delivers housekeeping supplies and stocks janitors’ closets as required by Environmental Services Management.

  • Attends all scheduled training as required by departmental procedure and as directed by Management.

  • Performs required duties safely and in compliance with all regulatory requirements as directed by Environmental Services Management. Uses and stores cleaning chemicals safely and properly.

  • Maintains housekeeping cart, closet and storeroom, including cleaning and stocking.

  • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills when observed or upon request.

  • Helps promote an atmosphere for open communication between administration and staff. Offers feedback /input relative to decisions affecting areas of work. Promotes effective work relationships and conflict resolution. Provides input in preparation of employee incident reports and assists with follow-up investigation as needed.

  • Observes and reports the general need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures throughout the Medical Center to the supervisor.

  • Monitors, cleans and inspects equipment daily. Performs routine quality self-inspections of areas of responsibility and completes daily checklist. Addresses thoroughness of cleaning tasks performed and corrects deficiencies within the scope of a housekeeper. Reports necessary projects to supervisor.

  • Prepare, arrange, and deliver linen exchange carts and, replenish closet stock as required, to the all user departments, per the daily delivery schedule. Verify linen quantities and enter linen data into the Controltex handheld computer daily. Maintain and organize the linen room. Weigh all outgoing soiled linen and incoming clean linen carts daily. Monitor and replenish the Scrubex dispensers daily and/or as needed.


EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • General housekeeping experience preferred.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of healthcare housekeeping methods and products preferred.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to facilitate accomplishment of job duties and successfully interact with customers.

  • Requires flexibility with changes in work and priorities.

  • Must demonstrate a positive work ethic, initiative, good judgment, safety awareness and work well with others.

Pay Range is $24.87 to $31.21 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
