The Role: Field Service Technician
Who are you?
The Field Service Technician has responsibility for on-site installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of company products. The FST will assist with servicing of in-house test equipment when not required at site locations. The FST will work autonomously and in small teams to perform maintenance services for various products and provide customer feedback. Extensive travel is required.
Supported by the Service Engineering Lead (SEL) and RAM Product Leaders (RPLs), the FST will perform the role of service and maintenance of Svante products including communication of technical information to technical and non-technical contacts and absorbing their feedback on related issues. The FST will support plant operations by responding to requests for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. The FST will provide feedback on any problems and recommend potential improvements.
Together with the SEL and RPLs, the FST will define standard documents, tools, and data collection methods to determine the root cause of any performance shortfalls as well as determination of appropriate intervals for routine maintenance and replacement of machine wear components.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Oversees maintenance of products on customer sites.
- Conducts tests to ensure product is working correctly.
- Trains customers.
- Troubleshoots installation problems.
- Works closely with development, production, and product management teams to continually improve products and practices.
- Creates and updates documentation of installations and specifications, maintains technical and customer documents.
- Carries out other assigned projects and tasks.
Qualifications
- Education: Mechanical Engineering Technologist or equivalent experience.
- Experience: at least 2 years in commissioning, maintaining, or installing related equipment.
- Very mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with troubleshooting complicated mechanical systems.
- Well organized, meticulous individual with strong problem-solving skills.
- Customer service focus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with various personalities and skill levels.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic setting.
