POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- As directed clean work areas or equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site
- Retrieve tools for other carpenters
- Understand and use basic hand and power tools (under supervision only)
- Maintain a clean construction area
- Select tools, equipment, or materials from storage and transport items to work site
- Assist in material handling for carpenters
- Construct and/or build small carpentry projects at the discretion and under supervision of responsible journeyman carpenter(s)
- Learn to read blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction layouts
- Assist carpenters with project layout functions
- Update and maintain all sets of drawings, specifications, and logs
- Assist with preparing document distributions to subcontractors
- Assist with document log maintenance
- Assist with submittal log maintenance
- Assist with processing RFI’s and maintaining RFI log in CMS system
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned
- Operate power tools of any kind unless properly trained, certified, and supervised
- Clean, repair or operate power-driven circular saws, band saws, griding machines, or similar equipment
- Operate any gas or electric powered vehicle or hoisting apparatus (including but not limited to high lift trucks, automobiles, scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, bobcats and cranes, freight elevators, etc.)
- Ride in company vehicles at any time
- Be allowed on site without proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work where there is a risk of falling a distance of 10 feet or more, including the use of ladders and scaffolds, without appropriate Fall Protecting equipment, training, certification and supervision
- Enrollment/Participation in School or Community-based work experience program
- Ability to learn new skills with attention to detail
- Lift and/or pull 40lbs
- Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions

- Effective written and verbal English language communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment and be self-starting
- This role is intended only for individuals aged 16-17 (minors) hired as part of an accredited program. Hiring for this role must be pre-approved by Division Management and Human Resources.
