Position Summary
The Healthcare Clinical Data Analyst will be uniquely positioned to gather and analyze healthcare data from multiple sources to extract trends and business insights. This role will assess current and future technology needs. Will integrate clinical information process and education to maximize front line staff and providers' efficiency and skills. The incumbent must be an excellent communicator who's able to tell the story behind raw data to non-technical audiences. This role will adhere to nursing policy, practice and regulatory standards when designing in the current system and will provide assistance and technical guidance to the clinicians in both the medical clinics and the behavioral health settings. This role will function both as a health informatics resource and as a reporting resource.
Primary Functions
- Pull and integrate data from disparate sources
- Build models that capture a wide range of health care operations
- Evaluate and preprocess raw information
- Present and explain information in an accessible way
- Proficient in SQL and analysis tools
- Performs a QA function for the data integration processes and repository metrics
- Collaborates with other staff to document data needs and metric definitions
- Validates data load processes and the quality of the data loaded into clinical data repositories
- Responsible for maintaining, storing, mapping and analyzing medical, lab and any other health data in compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures
- Provides consultative services to customers and application and development teams as to workflow processes and technological solutions
- Knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load frameworks.
- Coordinates the changes in workflow process needing to be made with the system changes, specific to policy and practice standards and following change management protocols.
- Works with members of the clinic staff and IT Department staff to design and develop clinical documentation based on workflow and regulatory standards
- Assists in the testing and implementation of new applications and upgrades
- Works closely with end users in the clinical environment to optimize their use of clinical systems. Develops and coordinates a team of interdisciplinary super-users. Responsible for facilitating communication across the patient care departments
- Provides project leadership and direction. Coordinates meetings and ensures appropriate expertise is applied to projects/tasks; resolves all issues.
- Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems
- Researches patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve work flow
- Utilizes various tools to capture EHR data and compile into reports that are meaningful to end users.
- Facilitates meetings and brings working groups to consensus in relation to the clinical record.
- Provides leadership to team when manager is not available
- Provide technical support, diagnosis of application errors and troubleshooting with system issues.
- Understands testing concepts including different types of testing and their objectives. Develops and executes tests scripts based on future state workflows and software enhancements/fixes. Works with others to create test scenarios (stories) for integration testing incorporating new features and workflows. Directs project team members throughout the testing event.
- Provides onboarding EHR training for providers and staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned within the Health Informatics & Data Analytics Team
Education/Qualifications
- graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Active RN license required
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- eClinicalWorks certification required within 1 year of hire
- At least 3 years of experience in healthcare required, with at least 2 years of experience in data analytics, data science, or informatics. Certification in Informatics is a plus.
