JOB SUMMARY
General Labor duties include truck scaling, site cleaning, light maintenance, able to operate front end loader. Adhere to all applicable regulations to provide safe, reliable, and cost effective operation of the plant to meet processing (contact), permit, and other applicable requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform equipment maintenance according to abilities, as required to keep the process running. Contact the on-call mechanic when necessary
2. Assist with the processing of material in a safe, effective timely manner for hauling to appropriate location and in compliance with all company, federal, state and local regulation/policies
3. Maintain records of plant operations including, but not limited to, hourly operating data, plant violations, and abnormal operating conditions in appropriate log book
4. Communicate and inform supervisor of all major problems, or if for any reason the process is shut down for more than 1 hour
5. Prepare and complete equipment checks at the start of every shift and complete all necessary forms
6. Perform any general work or other assignments necessary to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the plant to include sweeping, shoveling, and other housekeeping activities
7. Enforce and maintain standard safety procedures and maintain a clean work area at all times
8. Participate and complete training programs within the time frame allotted
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
2. Communication skills – verbal and written
3. Ability to operate a computer
4. Ability to perform basic math
5. Ability to work varying shifts, overtime hours and/or weekend duties
6. Ability to follow instructions
7. Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards connected with machine shop and general plant practices with emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance
8. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the plant fire protection apparatus and systems and ability to operate all fire protection equipment
9. Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize required training from OSHA and Company including but not limited to the following: First aid and CPR, Hazcom, Hearing conservation, Confined space entry and rescue , Lock out/Tag out
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES
1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with strong mechanical aptitude required
2. Valid Driver’s License
3. Safe driving record: No serious tickets or accidents in last 5 years or DWI/DUI in last 10 years
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Talking, Hearing, Seeing, Walking, Sitting, Standing, Climbing up to 80 ft, Pushing, Pulling, and Lifting up to 100 lbs
2. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and out
3. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
4. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.
5. The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body.
